A health research programme has set up a temporary clinic in Northumberland to help study conditions such as dementia, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

Our Future Health, a collaborative project between public sector bodies, life sciences companies, and UK health charities, has set up one of its mobile clinics at Asda on Chase Farm Drive, Blyth.

Participants, who can sign up online or will receive an invitation directly, will have a blood sample and physical measurements taken at their appointment and will then be offered health information, including their blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Volunteers, who must be over 18, will also be given the option to receive feedback about their risk of some diseases and have the opportunity to take part in future research studies.

Our Future Health boss Dr Raghib Ali said: “What we are offering is the opportunity to contribute to the biggest picture we have ever had of people’s health, which researchers will use to make new discoveries about diseases.”
