Wooler set to host series of summer concerts
A north Northumberland town has become a thriving hub of creative activity in music, the spoken word and visual arts.
Wooler Arts Summer Concerts take place each May and June in St Mary’s Church and have become a key feature of musical life in the area.

This season’s concerts include Shetland Traditional Music (Jenna Reid and Harris Playfair), a ‘feral’ vocal consort singing music from the 16th to 21st centuries (The Lyons Mouth), Royal Northern Sinfonia directed by Maria Włoszczowska in a programme of music by JS Bach, the young mezzo-soprano Rozanna Madylus and pianist Iain Farrington in a programme of ‘lullabies, charms and ghost songs’ as well as songs from the musicals, a dazzling piano recital by Clare Hammond, and the wizardry of jazz violinist Tim Kliphuis and his Trio with their take on Gershwin.
